Sales started, exciting year coming.

Hi all,

it's been a while since the last update. A lot has happened and a lot is going to happen in the coming months since the game is now finally on - the sales have started!!!

First of all we have been pretty busy getting the production up and running and our first products out the door to customers. This has of course been a very positive challenge :) Now finally the Mendor Online Shop is running (http://shop.mendor.com) and we are delivering on a daily basis. We are also negotiating many other interesting deals globally.

Then I have been working a lot with our fundraising - the "necessary evil" all start-ups face. It can actually be pretty interesting and challenging in a good way but it sure takes time. I have been trying to train my fundraising skills in the best possible way - by presenting a lot. There's also some good advise available prior to doing the presentation, one of them being http://bit.ly/ifZTIR by Will Cardwell @ Twitter. There's also a lot of other good readings available out there but I think probably the most important thing for me has been the great support from Mendor Board of Directors and my colleagues.

Things have developed in a good direction and we will hopefully have some good news to tell in the beginning of 2011.

In the middle of all the hassle, we are moving from our current office to a new location in the beginning of 2011 We have simply outgrown our current office. The new place is going to be in Keilaniemi, Espoo, more precisely around here. Exact coordinates to follow.

Then, some of you may have noticed that I'm the CEO of Mendor nowadays. There's no drama related to Paul Mordente leaving that post. We all decided together that it's best for the company at its current state, to have the general manager constantly present at the HQ in Helsinki (Paul lives in UK). Early stage companies do need a lot of hands-on work on a daily basis, specially in the midst of fundraising and product launch ;) Paul is still working with us actively and is based in good old England :)

Solianis Working on Noninvasive Continuous Glucose Monitoring for Patients With Diabetes

Solianis Monitoring AG is developing a groundbreaking device for the

diabetes community- a noninvasive continuous glucose monitoring system that delivers reliable and consistent data.

Most noninvasive devices so far have been able to measure glucose under controlled conditions in the lab or hospital, but have failed to address the influence of other factors of daily life, such as body temperature, microcirculation, sweat, moisture, and the thickness of different skin layers. Solianis, however, has created a multisensor system that continuously delivers information on glucose variations throughout the day. The device is being tested to finalize the design and optimize the glucose information provided.

According to the company's website, "Solianis' noninvasive continuous glucose monitor employs Impedance Spectroscopy to track changes in the glucose. The IS technology uses frequencies between 100 kHz and 8 GHz to measure the effect of changing glucose in blood, cells and interstitial fluid and the resulting changes in the ac and dc conductivity in both hyper- and hypoglycaemic events."

In a number of trials, conducted in cooperation with the University Hospital Zurich since May 2006, Solianis has shown that its multisensor platform reliably tracks glucose changes in patients with diabetes as well as in healthy subjects. In these trials, the subjects have gone through glucose challenges under various conditions designed to simulate real life conditions. The latest trial involved 20 patients who wore the device for over 1,000 days during their normal day-to- day activities. Initial data show that the device performs reliably.
