How do I set up my new meter?

How do I set the date on the meter?

Do I have to do a control measurement each time I use a new test strip cartridge?

Yes, it is recommended that you do a control measurement each time you change the test strip cartridge or if you suspect a false reading.

What should I do if I can not get a blood sample?

Please look at the Video: "How to make a measurement" see video. Make sure that the lancet device spring is loaded. You should hear a snap when pulling the lower cover to its furthest position. Also make sure that the lower cover returns to the previous position after the loading. You can adjust the depth of lancing device, Please look at the video "How to set up the meter" see video, see quick guide step 4 or user manual page 18. Also the force of pressing against the lancing device effects the lancing depth. It may be more difficult to get a sample with cold hands. Warming up or rubbing the hands can help, as well as increasing the lancing depth.

How do I remove the covers?

How often do I have to change the lancet?

It is recommended that the lancet is changed after each measurement.

How do I clean my meter? What substances to use etc?

The meter must be cleaned and deinfected thoroughly every day. The surfaces should be cleaned with a cloth and disinfectant, The proper solution is 70% isopropyl alchohol, which is widely available in pharmacies. Clean the meter regularly and immediately if you note that the meter is dirty or has blood on the surfaces. Please look in the user manual, page 22 see the user manual.

How do I change the battery on my meter?

Balance Application

How do I create an account to start using the application?

Please go to the website www.mendor.com/balance and click the link "LOG IN HERE". The application will ask you to log in (existing user) or to create a new user account. By clicking on the option "create a new user account", the system will guide you to fill in your email address that will work as your username and to select and confirm a password. After the completion of the registering, you will receive a confirmation email into the email address you entered.

How do I upload the results from my meter?

Log in to the Mendor Balance application (http://mendor.com/balance). If you are using the uploading function the first time, after logging in, start the installation guide by clicking the “Install Meter Agent” button in the toolbar. Follow the instructions in the installation guide. Once the installation is successfully completed, the Meter Agent application is automatically started. If you have uploaded results to Balance before, after logging in, you can simply connect your Mendor Discreet blood glucose meter to your computer with the USB cable supplied with the meter. Turn the meter on before starting the upload of the measured results. When the text “Pc” is displayed on the meter display, the meter is ready for the upload. Select Mendor Discreet from the “Meter” drop-down menu in the Balance application. Start the uploading by clicking “Upload from meter”. Once the upload is complete, the text “Upload completed” is displayed in the information window. Normally the upload takes 15–30 seconds.Close the Meter Agent application from the toolbar by clicking “Exit”, and disconnect the meter from the computer.

How do I decide the timeframes?

Start by thinking of your regular day. When do you usually have breakfast and some other significant meal. If you don’t usually have breakfast, you may choose another meal of your choice. For overnight timeframes, when do you usually got to bed and when do you usually get up. Try not to get stuck too much on exceptions from your regular day. What happens every day is way more important than exceptions.

Why only two meals are included?

Simple is better. If you can manage your two main meals well, you are in a good shape anyways. If you on top of that can manage your overnight glucose well, you’re well on your way to a better and safer glucose balance.

What if my meter date and time settings are wrong?

It is very important, that you take the short time to set the correct date and time on your Mendor Discreet blood glucose meter. The analysis of your glucose measurements is based on your settings in the meter. In other words, if the settings are wrong, the analysis will be wrong also.
