Our story:

Mendor was founded in 2005 by five individuals from different universities in Helsinki, Finland. After a successful showing in Venture Cup, a national business plan competition, the team started the product development of the Mendor blood glucose meter in Biomedicum business park near the Helsinki University Central Hospital.

The team came up with the of making daily blood glucose measurement easier with a new type of discreet and portable meter, partly originating from one of the founders being a type 1 diabetic. Wanting to ensure a user centric approach to product development, the team began working on the idea with local diabetics and diabetes professionals. 

 

Following intensive brainstorming and concept testing with potential users and medical experts, the idea of a new web-based software for the analysis of blood glucose measurements emerged. This idea also received great feedback from local diabetes professionals. With help from Finland's leading diabetologist Antti Virkamäki the guys started to develop the software further

 

Today founders Jukka Planman, Tuomas Planman, Kristian Ranta and others at Mendor are preparing the company for its first product launch in Europe during 2010.
